Description
La Sibutramine est un médicament produit depuis 1997 et utilisé comme traitement d’appoint contre l’obésité nutritionnelle. C’est un anorexigène phényléthylaminique qui provoque une modification des amines cérébrales entraînant une diminution de l’appétit et une sensation de satiété.
Sibutramine works by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine. However, unlike fenfluramine and its derivatives, it does not increase circulating serotonin levels and therefore does not have their cardiac side effects. It increases feelings of fullness and consequently reduces food intake. Sibutramine is particularly effective, taking effect at the beginning of the cycle (after only 2-3 days).
It is not recommended to exceed 12 months of treatment and to use Sibutramine if you have a history of cardiovascular disease.
