FSH and LH play an important role in the development of follicles (eggs) produced by the ovaries in women. Menotropin is used to help your body produce multiple eggs during ovulation for in vitro fertilization (IVF). It is a fertility medication administered by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection. As a combination medication, menotropins bind to the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) receptor, triggering ovulation when there is insufficient endogenous luteinizing hormone (LH). They also bind to the LH receptor, stimulating the release of the appropriate hormone.
