Diuretics

Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic in the thiazide family, used medically to treat edema and high blood pressure. This medication works by decreasing the reabsorption of electrolytes, thereby increasing the excretion of sodium, potassium, chloride, and consequently, water. Compared to several diuretics, Hydrodiuril is more potent than the potassium-sparing agent Aldactone® (spironolactone), but weaker than the diuretic Lasix® (furosemide).
