Description
Tirzepatide is a new FDA-approved drug for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Given its potent weight-loss properties, tirzepatide is used off-label for the treatment of obesity. It acts as a dual agonist of GLP-1 and GIP to maximize benefits similar to those seen with GLP-1 drugs such as semaglutide. It is currently used as a second-line diabetes medication, like GLP-1 drugs, and is administered as a weekly subcutaneous injection.
