Dosage
The usual dosage of testosterone propionate for male athletes is 50 to 100 mg per injection, administered every two or three days. Like all testosterone esters, testosterone propionate is commonly used at a cumulative weekly dose of 200 mg to 400 mg. This dosage is sufficient for most users to notice significant gains in muscle mass and strength.
Testosterone propionate is a synthetic injectable form of the primary male androgen testosterone. The added propionate ester slows the rate at which testosterone is released from the injection site, resulting in a duration of action lasting only a few days. Consequently, testosterone propionate, compared to other esters such as cypionate or enanthate, is much faster-acting and requires a much more frequent dosing schedule. Testosterone propionate is an older form of injectable testosterone, rendered obsolete by the slower, more convenient esters developed after it.
The half-life of Testosterone Propionate is approximately two days after injection.
Side effects
Testosterone is readily aromatized in the body into estradiol (estrogen). The enzyme aromatase (estrogen synthase) is responsible for this metabolism of testosterone. High estrogen levels can cause side effects such as increased water retention, body fat gain, and gynecomastia. High testosterone levels are also likely to produce androgenic side effects, including oily skin, acne, and hair growth. Men with a genetic predisposition to hair loss (androgenic alopecia) may experience accelerated baldness.
