Clomiphene citrate is not not an anabolic steroid but a synthetic estrogen hormone which is used in bodybuilding in order to combat a number of hormonal imbalances caused by taking anabolic steroids. Clomid helps to restore the normal testosterone level after treatment and prevents the estrogen present in the body from acting and thus avoids the effects associated with it, including in particular gynecomastia.
Clomid is primarily a fertility drug created to stimulate ovulation in women who have difficulty conceiving. This molecule also has the property of stimulating the production of endogenous testosterone in men within the testicles, by increasing the secretion of the hormones LH and FSH. It is this latter property that interests bodybuilders because they suffer certain hormonal imbalances when they use steroids, and especially when these steroids are highly androgenic.
